ALEX really shines when used for Recreation Fee
tracking. No need to calculate the usual 95% and 5% for every
collection. Simply set up the Recreation Fee Site with
the appropriate Job Codes and ALEX does the breakdown
for you every time you post a collection from the site.
You will always know on the same day that you post the
collection how much money is available to spend
for each Recreation Fee Site. FFIS does not track your money
to the site level. You need ALEX for that.

ALEX has been designed to assist in
planning and managing federal funds and fee collections for all Districts of the United States Forest Service.
ALEX was initially developed under the direction of Barbara Harper at the Tallulah Ranger District in
Clayton, GA. Additional updates to the system have been implemented after
recommendations from other District, Supervisor and Regional Offices.
The current version of ALEX is written in Microsoft Visual Basic and
Access. ALEX requires Microsoft Office XP. ALEX will be ported over
to Office 2003 and .NET as soon as the United States Forest Service supports
either.
